Why bother? That really is a big question facing every person hoping to do something about climate change, and it is not an easy question to answer. The big thing about why bother is that we can do something about it. With very small actions, we can help change a big problem. Here are just few tips.
At Home:
If we change our light bulbs to low-energy light bulbs, we will save a lot of energy and we will produce a lot less pollution. Remember also to turn off the lights when you leave a room. If we air-dry our clothes instead of drying them in the drying machine, we will save a lot of energy too. If we turn off the tap when we brush our teeth, we will save a lot of water. If we use recycling bins, we will reduce pollution.
When we shop:
If we buy from companies that reduce carbon dioxide, more companies will reduce carbon dioxide. If we buy products with little or no wrapping, companies will use less wrapping and they will pollute a lot less. If we buy fair-tradeproducts, more companies will go fair to producers in
developing countries.
When we go to places:
If we cycle and walk instead of driving, we will reduce pollution. We will waste less oil if we share or car or use public transportation. Our town will be less polluted if we take the bus or the train instead of our car. If a big number of people consistently try to reduce pollution and waste, we will slow and stop carbon dioxide footprint and climate change.
